Background – usually a light colored and/or tone-on-tone fabric with little or no print
Sashing – strips of fabric that separate groups of blocks.
Selvage – manufacturing edges that are either not printed and/or not standard weave – should never be used as they may distort your final quilt.
Strip Set – refers to strips that are sewn together by lining up on one end. Once sewn together, cut off the selvage and start cutting segments from the trimmed end.
WOF = Width Of Fabric – this is the fabric width between selvage to selvage. My patterns expect at least 40 inches of usable fabric.
